Crew & BOAT

  • Axel Hackbarth

Axel is a progressive hippie at heart with a strong desire to venture into the unknown. Struggling to focus on a single passion, Axel juggles creatively technology, outdoor sports and environmentalism. Once all boat jobs are done and the northern German energy system is transitioned fully sustainable, he climbs mountains or foils above the water while reinventing multi-modal micro-mobility and a smart network for sailing boats to save our oceans. Failure is for him only a motivation to improve and just another step towards success, so fixing broken things and changing approaches is engrained in his DNA.

  • Katharina Charpian

Katha is a creative adventurer, spiritual feminist and the happiest at sea when we get visits from marine wildlife, the moon or pastel coloured skies. She started sailing with Axel six years ago and quickly fell in love with life afloat. She works remotely as a freelance journalist, writing about zeitgeist, sustainability, travel, and design. Always curious, she’s constantly on the lookout for untold stories, inspiring changemakers, and hidden places along the way. Three years ago she published the book “Boatlife - exploring the freedom of maritime living” (Gestalten) . She loves to capture our adventures with her analog camera and her vision is to open the boat to fellow creatives – to celebrate soulful ceremonies in nature, dance under the stars, and create together in a space of freedom and connection.

  • Helle

The true captain on board and the most courageous dog among the seven seas. She keeps her crew happy with her daily jokes and cuteness and in shape with serendipitous adventures throughout the day. Helle is a sailor, a surfer, a wing foiler and a free diver. When the sails are up, she is overjoyed. Only dolphins – her new favorite animals – can top the party of endorphins.

OUR NEW BOAT

We are sailing on a beautiful Garcia Passoa 47 built in 1989. This one-of-a-kind expedition vessel with a deep adventurous soul gives us more space to invite our loved ones aboard and with her sturdy aluminium hull she can break through the ice and take us to even higher latitudes – somewhere between endless sunshine, snow-covered mountains and shallow anchorages. Her warm-hearted interior warps us back in time and lets us dream about all the wild explorations we might experience soon.

“Our boat is our home, creative space & adventure mobile to play on the water, under the surface & up the mountains”

OUR OLD BOAT

We sailed on a beautiful ocean blue Beneteau First 345, built in 1986, before. Her name is ‘ZEST’ and we are very happy that she is in good hands.
