We sailed almost 10,000 kilometers (5,000 nautical miles) together so far - and haven't been faster than a rickety Dutch bicycle.

Our route

We sailed in the winter of 20/2021, from midwinter to midsummer, almost to the North Cape in Norway and back to Hamburg, experiencing dancing auroras, playful reindeer, endless sunshine, ski tours directly from the boat and an anchorage in front of a calving glacier. (Mental) challenges such as seasickness, stormy night passages or office days in overly rocky anchorages were quickly blown away by the gusts and the incredible nature (or our optimism?). After this unforgettable 3,000-nautical-mile voyage, we were longing for more: more adventure, more freedom and a smaller carbon footprint – driven to leave the beaten path.

In summer the summer of 2022 we moved aboard full-time. Our route has taken us from Hamburg through the Staande Mastroute in Holland, zigzagging through the Breton islands, along the surfing hotspots and dunes of southern France and the winding rias of northern Spain to hidden lagoons in the Algarve in Portugal.

We have sailed 2,000 nautical miles, around 3,700 kilometers, on the North Atlantic, which sometimes welcomed us gently with chattering dolphins and often showed us its wild side.

2024 brought an unexpected pause after a grounding – but it also led us to something new. Venus is our bigger floating home, and our base in the blue universe. The wild beauty of high and low latitudes is calling.

Currently we are preparing the boat in Hamburg for our next trip to the Arctic.
